Henry is one motivated mother fucker. He needs no introduction, and if you don't know who he is, here is the door!

Recently the former BLACK FLAG frontman starred on season two of the hit HBO series SONS OF ANARCHY and was still able to find time on his massive spoken word tour to answer a few questions on his thoughts about Obama, War, The Man, Black Flag, The Music Industry and more. Here's what he had to say...

You have always been a politically-minded figure. What can you say about the Obama administration? If you were to give him counsel, what would it be?

I think the Obama administration is doing the best they can with what they were handed: a wrecked economy, a war on two fronts, a Republican party who is going through a very embarrassing and public meltdown. I would ask that he get out of Gitmo, Iraq, Afghanistan and out of many of the over one hundred countries that America has a military presence in.

The president has also approved of building two nuclear plants over the course of eight years in Georgia. Do you support this project?

My reservations about nuclear energy has always been waste disposal and no one has ever made it clear to me what is the solution to that. Until I hear that and can understand it, I am afraid of nuclear energy.

Have you ever thought about running for office?

No.

I've seen numerous videos of you fronting Black Flag in the 80's and your live shows were definitely crazy! I saw a particular video where you got hit in the head with a beer can and another one where you punched an audience member who was taunting you. That period in time must've been really intense. Do you ever miss the chaos and excitement of those days? Do you get the same rush in other aspects of your life now?

I certainly don't miss getting cigarettes put out in my leg, no. It was never a rush. In the days of Black Flag as now, I only come to do the show, the rest is dramatic distraction that I can do without.

You are probably aware of the Anarcho and Crust punk scenes. Do you support their ideologies and activities like anarchism, culture jamming etc?

I have some of the records but am not familiar as to what they get up to.

How has the music industry changed since you entered it in the early 80's? Do you think that the future medium of music is the mp3?

I think that things are a bit more 4-lane and well lit now, compared to how they were before. There are good and bad parts to anything called progress. Like when your operating software gets upgraded, you sometimes miss things that are now gone to make them "better", so there's always that aspect. I think the major labels have done more to damage music than to help it. Money and art don't always make for good bed partners. Thankfully, there is an upside and to me at least, there's a very healthy "underground" scene happening, with great labels and bands. There will always be people wanting that LP, so I don't think that medium will go away, if anything, it's making a comeback.

What do you think of the 'pay-what-you-want' download concept? Would you ever consider such a thing for any of your own work?

I think if you know you're going to sell a lot of copies, it's one thing. If you're not in a position like that, it's quite another thing. I think there are enough free download opportunities at this point to where you pay what you want anyway. I would rather pay fairly and keep the band on the road and well fed.

Aside from keeping yourself fit by going to the gym and eating healthy, do you meditate or perhaps do tai chi? What are your thoughts about such esoteric subjects?

I don't do either of those and have no thoughts on them, really.

You are a very well-read person. What are you reading right now and what are your favorite subjects to read about? What books would you recommend to people who do not read that much, that you think will benefit them greatly?

I am reading a book on crime in Japan. I read mostly history and political stuff at this point. Not much on fiction anymore. I think that Naomi Klein's book The Shock Doctrine is a read that is well worth the time.

You stated in your short performance in Coachella '09 that every single war ever fought is completely preventible and that wars are nothing but scams. Could you elaborate on that?

Someone always makes a lot of money off any war. In WWII, Germany sought to dominate Europe and turn it into one big Germany. Roosevelt got America into WWII for the money, what, you think he felt for all those Jews? Bush went into Iraq because Saddam had oil under his feet, you think it was he felt bad for all those Iraqis? All the military bases we have all over the world will guarantee more hostility to come, it's an investment in the future. Those bases don't make America any safer, they piss people off.

What do you think of talk about the Mayan calendar ending and a supposed apocalypse in 2012?

I'll let you know in 2013.

If for some reason, you lost the ability to speak or sing, aside from writing, in what other way/s would you express yourself?

I don't know what else I would do.

You have dedicated your life to sticking it to the man. Would you say that the man is still stronger than ever or are we on the verge of a breakthrough?

The Man is hanging in there but is in a compromised position, now that things are in short supply. I think many people are waking up to the fact that they have been played like a deck of cards. The Man will get vicious as he goes down swinging and will unfortunately take many down with him. Eventually, it will be the lack of resources that will bring The Man down. The Man will be unable to find anyone to fight on his behalf.
